Sabrina visits artist Dana Matthews in her studio in Gowanus Brooklyn to talk with her about her work that explores the environment. Her most recent project Farm Work are portraits of farmers in upstate, NY that are surrounded by land leased for drilling. What would happen to the ability for farmers to grow food if Fracking contaminates the water and agriculture becomes surrounded by industrialization of the area? Dana has a cabin in Franklin, NY and has gotten involved in the activism to stop the potential environmental disaster that un-safe drilling would cause. Sabrina first met Dana on October 30, 2010 when Dana invited Sabrina and the Frack Talk Shale Project to share the PICNIC on Union Street at the Park Slope Coop. More on the PICNICS later. Dana talks to Sabrina about climate change, wildlife disappeared from landscapes and the intricacy of the human world with that of the natural and our connection to it.
