Everyone loves a parade! This road session takes us to the zany community event celebration all things fishy in the Sullivan County Catskills, the 7th Annual Trout Parade in Livingston Manor, NY. While our Assemblymember Aileen Gunther hula-hooped and the program director from Catskill Mountainkeeper sang in the little BeeLine trailer, while volunteer firefighters talked of raising funds for the town with the duck race and a seahorse on stilts talked with Sabrina about the role of the artist in the face of gas drilling; one person after another who joined Sabina at the kitchen table talked of protecting their community, of speaking out and how the joy of the parade reminded them of all the wonderful parts of their home that could be lost and of the fresh water and the amazing Willowemoc River behind running alongside Main Street. The conversation kept coning back to protecting the community from under-regulated and under-studied Natural Gas Drilling. Sabrina spoke to neighbors, spontaneous visitors, rescued Basset Hounds, a charming Cockatoo and residents of both the town and surrounding area about all there is to celebrate in the Sullivan County.
