This event was a celebration of all of the work that Catskill Mountainkeeper (Directed by Ramsay Adams) has been doing to protect the Catskills and was at the family home of the Adams’ (John Adams), NRDC co-founder and recent recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his impactful environmental work. Bill McKibben, environmentalist and 350.org founder joins Trailer Talk to speak about his book, EAARTH at the Mountainkeeper Barnfest in Beaverkill, N.Y., written to scare the pants off of us (inform) and remind us that building a local economy is essential while building a global movement to get off of fossil fuels and stop the powerful energy corporations from destroying our home (the planet and our neighborhoods). Grab a shot of whisky or a cup of soothing tea before sitting down to read this alarming book. Bill points out that many people have faced what we are now facing in the Catskills and throughout the region because we are living where what lies beneath our feet is very valuable and wanted by the oil and gas industry.
